I guess we could have done more in public, but the intent was to make sure the Subversion
PMC was more or less on the same page before we stirred up a hornets nest.  While not everyone
is in total agreement there was enough consensus to move forward.  I thought PMCs were free
to make their own technical decisions. And Infra definitely supports svn->git migration.
Jim/Rich: why are you guys involved at all?

I do not know how all ASF projects are organized, but with Subversion pretty much 100% of
our developers with commit access are part of our PMC.  So while we might not have involved
our end users, I feel confident that the majority of the developers contributing to Subversion
had a chance to weigh in.
