Subject [jira] Commented: (YOKO-156) Add support for CORBA Anys in Corba Runtime Binding

Darren Middleman commented on YOKO-156:

Committed initial support for Anys in the CORBA binding. There is still an issue that has
to be overcome before support for Anys can be completed.

This issue involves knowing how to insert parameter data into an Any so that it can be written
correctly to an OutputStream (such that the CORBA application receiving the data can correctly
extract the information). In Yoko, we receive object data as a sequence of Stax XMLEvents,
with the actual object data being encoded as a character string. Unfortunately, this means
that we lose information about the original type of the parameter and have no way of knowing
which of the CORBA Anys .insert_***() operations to invoke to store the data. This could
lead to a situation where Yoko inserts the data as one type but the CORBA application expects,
and attempts to extract, the data as another type.
