We use the Jira "Release Notes" service to create the release-notes for
our release; this in turn, depends on having the "Fixed in xxxxx" field
correctly filled in.

The many updates today to closed Jiras was due to a review of those,
looking for cases where that field wasn't set, and then setting it to
the proper component.

>
>
> When running extended tests in eclipse( version: 3.4.0) on Linux with IBM jvm 1.6 service
release 1, some of the tests are not completing due to a hang. Both the trunk code (before
the merge) and the merged code (from the branch) seem to exhibit this problem although on
different tests. The code from the trunk (before the merge) hangs on testcase: testTerminateOnFlowControllerException,
while the merged code hangs on testAggregateProcessCallWithLongDelay. The hangs are also
observed on Windows with IBM Jvm 1.6 service release 1.

>
> The C++ service wrapper needs to be modified to handle quiesce and shutdown requests
from the command line as well as from a Java controller.
> A 'q' entered at the command line should cause the wrapper to wait for the processing
instances to complete the current work before shutdown. A 's' entered at the command line
should result in an immediate shut down. Ctrl C is to be handled as a quiesce and shutdown.

> Fix For: 2.3C
>
>
> 3. I deployed the uimacpp AE service which has exactly the same typesystem as a uimaj
AE in the pipeline. However, the CASes are incompatible with the following reason:
> - There is a type 'Constituent' which has a 'children' feature. 'children' is of the
range type 'FSArray' with the element type 'Constituent'.
> - However, when getting the typesystem from the uimacpp service, the element type is
ignored. Both components cannot be plugged into one pipeline, because of an exception complaining
about incompatible typesystems.
> I will work around the last issue by altering the typesystem (removing the element type),
but this is not satisfactory.
> Kind regards
> Matthias

>
>
> 1. uimacpp does not support import by name <import name="..." />, which I think
is not mentioned in the documentation.
> 2. using <import location="..." /> employs a different path resolving strategy
from that of uimaj:
> - both support using absolute paths and relative paths (relative to the descriptor
in which the import occurs)
> - uimacpp can be given the environment variable UIMACPP_DATAPATH which is additionally
used to resolve relative paths
> - However, uimaj does not support resolving relative <import location="..." />
from it's datapath.

> XMI Serialization of replies is not checking for FS references when serializing incoming
FSs
> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: UIMA-1653
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/UIMA-1653

>
> Attachments: UIMACPP-1653.patch
>
>
> As discovered by Matthias Wendt when the incoming FS has a feature with multiple references
which is set by the C++ annotator, the FS reference is not serialized.
> Mathias provided the sample XMI below returned in the reply from a C++ service where
the 'variant' feature gets an id-ref value of "4", but there is no object having xmi:id="4".
> The feature 'variant' has MultipleReferenceAllowed set to true. The encompassing FS
is passed to C++ annotator which sets the 'variant' feature.

>
>
> When I create an aggregate descriptor from several installed pears (e.g., WS tokenizer,
tagger & regex), the CDE creates an OOM situation on Eclipse 3.5 and Sun Java 6 on windows.
This seems to be due to the fact that the CDE fully instantiates delegate components to get
at their metadata. Is this really necessary? We keep all our metadata in xml specifically
so we don't have to do this.

>
> I installed the 2.3-RC5 Eclipse tooling, imported the examples projects and tried to
run the pear installer via the preconfigured pear installer launch configuration. This results
in the exception below. The same does not happen when the pear installer is started via the
.bat file. Pear installation works regardless, so this is minor and should not hold up 2.3.

Removed testTerminateOnInitializationFailureWithAggregateForcedShutdown() as it was causing
a hang. In this test, an aggregate tries to establish a connection to a non-existent broker.
before recent changes, the listener was not trying to recover a connection a broker and simply
terminated the service. Recent code changes force the listener to silently reconnect until
a broker is ready but since the broker is never started the test hangs. This test is no longer
valid.

> Uima AS Jms Listener Should Support Retry When Establishing Connection To a Broker

>
>
> UIMA AS service should support retry when a listener on the service input queue fails
due to a broker not being available. The listener should log a message stating the fact that
the broker is not available and it should enter a loop attempting to reconnect. When a broker
becomes available the listener should reconnect, log a message that the connection was made,
and proceed to complete initialization.

Remove a testTerminateOnInitializationFailureWithDelegateBrokerMissing() test from extended

been changed to silently retry the connection indefinitely. Thus the test hangs.

>
