screen shot of the error in question

Every time I open OOo, specifically Writer, it crashes. It will stay open for
about 30 seconds, then freezes. When I attempt to open the program, it will
allow me to recover old documents that might have been damaged due to the
freezing/crashing, but once they're recovered, the program freezes again.

I believe the "Updates for extensions available" pop-up is causing the crash.
If I can get to the "updates" panel before the program freezes, it claims there
is an unknown error, and that there are no updates available (screenshot
attached). When OOo crashes after I do that, it tells me the following:

"Due to an unexpected error, crashed. All the files you were
working on will now be saved. The next time is launched, your
files will be recovered automatically."

It gives me no error type or number.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Open Office, but that has not fixed the
problem. I have also restarted my computer multiple times, and that has not
fixed the problem. If the pop-up for updates is causing the problem due to
there being no updates available, what suggestions to you have? What other
things could I try to get OOo to work?

Steps to Reproduce: Open OOo Writer (any document, new or old). Wait for
"Update for extensions are available" pop up to proc.

Result: Application freezes.

Expected Results: Application should not freeze. "Updates for extensions
available" should only show if there are actual updates.

Build date and platform: March 3, 2012, on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I don't know how to find the type of crash or module it occurred in, so if you
could help me with that, maybe we can solve this thing!

Thanks for your help in advance!
