+<p>With the image already inserted into your drawing file:</p>

+  <li>Click once on the image to select it. Just below the command bar, the image toolbar will appear.</li>
+  <li>In this toolbar, click on the right-most <b>Crop</b> button to open the Crop pop-up window.</li>
+  <li>Insert the exact measurements of the canvas you want to crop.</li>
+  <li>Click the <b>OK</b> button to close the window.</li>
+  <li>Click outside the image to deselect it.</li>

+<h3>I have a JPEG image that needs its colors changed before I use it in an Openoffice.org file. How do I change the colors?</h3>
+<p>When you open a JPEG file, OpenOffice.org displays the image toolbar just below the command bar. Once the file is open:</p>
+<ol>
+  <li>Select: <b>Tools &gt; Eyedropper</b> from the Menu bar. It will display a floating window called <i>Eyedropper</i>.</li>
+  <li>Click on the uppermost top left icon, <b>Eyedropper</b>.</li>
+  <li>Enter a tolerance value to define how exact the color match should be. First try a tolerance of 10%. You might need to increase it for any change to be visible. A 30% value is usually effective. You can go as high as 99%, but it may pick up more area than you want.</li>
+  <li>Select in the image the color you want to change. In the eyedropper floating window, that color will be automatically selected.</li>
+  <li>Choose the new color you wish to use from the <b>Replace with...</b> drop down list.</li>
+  <li>Click on the <b>Replace</b> button to confirm your choice. If nothing happens, increase the tolerance.</li>
+  <li>To replace more colors, select another color rectangle to the left of the Eyedropper floating window, then repeat the steps from 2 to 5. Finally, confirm your choices by clicking on the <b>Replace</b> button.</li>

+<h3>I'm trying to print a Draw document, but the colors printed by my printer are not the same ones displayed on the screen. How can I edit them using the CMYK color system?</h3>
+<p>The modern color printers use a % mix of 4 inks (or 6 in the newest ones) to reproduce the colors that are visible to us. In Draw, to edit a color using the exact percentage of an ink you have to:</p>
+<ol>
+  <li>Click on the object whose color you want to change. It will be selected.</li>
+  <li>Right click on it and choose <b>Area...</b> from the context menu.</li>
+  <li>In the pop-up window that appears, flip to the <b>Colors</b> tab.</li>
+  <li>Select CMYK from the <b>Color System</b> combo box.</li>
+  <li>Modify the CMYK % values in the boxes below.</li>
+  <li>Click the <b>OK</b> button. You will be prompted as to whether you want to modify the existing color or to add a new one to the palette. Make your choice.</li>
+</ol>
+<p>Otherwise, you can use/modify a ready CMYK palette:</p>
+<ol>
+  <li>Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 listed above.</li>
+  <li>Click on the <b>Load Color List</b> icon.</li>
+  <li>Select the cmyk.soc file and press the <b>Open</b> button. (standard path: <b>OpenOffice60/user/config/</b>)</li>

+<p>You have probably set the margins of the Draw document page too near the print area borders of your printer. You have to:</p>

+  <li>Check your printer manual to find out the size of your printer's print area.</li>
+  <li>Select <b>Format > Page...</b> from the menu bar.</li>
+  <li>In the <b>Page</b> tab of the <b>Page Setup</b> window, change the top and botton margins to the size you have found in your printer manual. If you do not have it anymore, try a value higher than 2,5 cm (1 inch). It works with many printers.</li>
+  <li>Click the <b>OK</b> button.</li>

+<P>Not really. What happens here is, that Math uses multi-letter
+variables, which are common in some disciplines, like economy. The
+rule is that a variable consists of a sequence of letters, numbers
+and dots (the first character can not be a dot).</P>
+<P>So when you enter 3xy this is considered a variable - and
+variables are typeset in italics. The only odd thing here is, that a
+variable can start with a number.</P>
+<P>The correct way to enter the expression if you mean 3 times x
+times y is<KBD> 3 x y </KBD>(with spaces between the characters).</P>

+<P>You have to define the symbol you want to use as a user-defined
+symbol first. See <A HREF="012.html">FAQ #012</A> for instructions;
+most of the symbols used by <I>Math</I> are part of the StarMath
+font.</P>
+<P>Let's say you have defined the union symbol as the user-defined
+symbol <KBD>%union</KBD>. You can then enter for example</P>
+<PRE STYLE="margin-bottom: 0.5cm">oper%union from i in I A_i</PRE><P>
+in order to typeset the formula</P>

+<h3>How do I change the fonts used in my formula?</h3>
+<P><I>Math</I> uses 7 different text fonts to typeset formulas -
+in addition to symbol fonts (mainly the StarMath font).</P>
+<P>The basic fonts are:</P>
+<UL>
+	<LI><I>Variables</I>. Variables (such as<KBD> x</KBD>, <KBD>a</KBD>
+	etc.) are usually typeset in italics; the default is Times New
+	Roman, italics.
+	<LI><I>Functions</I>. Functions (such as<KBD> cos</KBD>, <KBD>log</KBD>
+	etc.) are usually typeset in upright shape; the default is Times New
+	Roman.
+	<LI><I>Numbers</I>. Numbers (such as<KBD> 217</KBD>) are usually
+	typeset in upright shape; the default is Times New Roman.
+	<LI><I>Text</I>. Text (such as<KBD> &quot;abc&quot;</KBD>) is
+	usually typeset in upright shape; the default is Times New Roman.
+	<LI><I>Serif</I> is an additional, serifed font. The default is
+	Times New Roman.
+	<LI><I>Sans</I> is an additional, sans serif font. The default is
+	Helvetica/Arial.
+	<LI><I>Fixed</I> is an additional fixed with font. The default is
+	Courier.

+<P>To change one of the fonts follow these steps:</P>
+<UL>
+	<LI>Select <B>Format-Fonts...</B>.
+	<LI>Click <b>'Modify'</b> and select the font you wish to modify in the
+	pop-up menu.
+	<LI>Select the font in the list. You can also check one or both
+	the checkboxes <B>'Bold'</B> and <B>'Italic'</B>.
+	<LI>Close the dialog with <b>'OK'</b>.

+<P>This will change the font for the current formula. The next time
+you want to use the same font it will already be in the list box; you
+don't have to click modify again.</P>

+symbol you can define a userdefined symbol.</P>

+	<LI>Open the Symbols dialog (<B>Tools-Catalog...</B>).
+	<LI>Click <b>'Edit'</b>.
+	<LI>Type a name for the new symbol in the combobox <B>'Symbol'</B>.
+	<LI>Type a new name or select
+	an existing name in the combobox <B>'Symbol set</B>. This is the
+	symbol set you want your symbol to appear in.
+	<LI>Select the font in the listbox <B>'Font'</B>, for example the
+	OpenSysbol font.
+	<LI>Select the formatting (normal, bold, bold-italic or italic)
+	in the listbox <B>'Typeface'</B>.
+	<LI>Click on the symbol in the table.
+	<LI>Click <b>'Add'</b> to add your symbol.
+</UL>
+<P>You can now use your symbol like any other symbol by selecting it
+in the Symbols dialog or entering<KBD> %thenameofthesymbol </KBD>directly.</P>
+<p>StarMath Truetype font set can be found on the web via one of the search engines. Prevenance is unknown but it is useful.</p>
+<P>If you don't have the symbol try looking in the StarMath font
+first; it contains about 25 additional symbols.</P>
+<P>Another source of symbols is the so-called AMS fonts of the
+American Mathematical society.</P>
+<P>You can download these in Postscript type 1 format from

+<P>Select <B>Format-Text Mode</B>.</P>
+<P>This will change the formatting of your formula such that
+fractions and large operators (such as integral signs) are smaller.
+Furthermore the limits of large operators are placed to the right of
+the operator rather than above and below.</P>

+<P>This is one of the major issues with the current version of <I>Math</I>.</P>
+<P>What happens is, that your formulas always are inserted vertically
+centered with respect to the textline. If the formula is not
+symmetrical vertically the baselines of the text and the formula will
+not be aligned.</P>
