Then I'd suggest tag a version that works with httpd-2.0 for those who 
wants/needs it (2.0 isn't LFS by default anyway, so they should 
be good with the current code) and carry on with development for the 
current stable httpd version.

I'm really against #ifdef clutter and "this should build out of the 
box for all known versions of httpd", if there's features in the APR 
used in httpd-stable that makes life easier I'd say use them...
