Mkay. Any chance of this happening soon? Without LFS mod_ftp becomes 
rather uninteresting, so I'd really like to see this fixed.

I'd be happy to hack on it. However, I think that it needs someone APR 
and httpd savvy to at least come up with the basic outline of how it 
should be done. I'm not convinced that simply "APRifying" the current 
code will yield a good solution wrt "stat all files twice when simply 
listing a directory" and possibly other suboptimal features.
