you have some nice other options as: knockout (http://knockoutjs.com/) ,
ember (http://emberjs.com/) or react (http://facebook.github.io/react/)
I already used both knockout and ember, I found them very convenient.
The new react sounds promising.
Yup they are not as trendy as angular because they have the google
marketing power :-)
But they are stable, performant and take care of backward compat...
