Subject page comments as footnotes?
Date Wed, 25 Jun 2008 18:01:38 GMT
Short question: Is there some way to add comments to a page as footnotes?

Background:

I like the 'comment' feature of JSPWiki in that it allows people to add
comments, but if the page is large, it is difficult to properly reference
the part of the page in your comment.

The footnoting feature of JSPWiki could come to the rescue here, but
requires the user to edit the page to insert the footnote, and then has to
update two parts of the page.

Is there some way that a user could highlight part of the page and that
highlight location could be communicated back to the server when the 'Add
Comment' command is issued? This would give the server enough information
where to put the footnote reference, and still add the comment text to the
end.

Is this possible?
