Hi Florian, Yes, when HTML parsing is turned off, of the common HTML markup characters ('<','>','&', '"' and '\'' if memory serves) are treated like normal characters during parsing and expressed as character entities when sent to the output (so that the browser treats them as characters instead of markup). When HTML parsing is turned on they are considered as markup. So it's not so much that tags are prohibited, it's that the markup characters that form tags are simply not recognized as markup, hence the parser recognizes no tags, just some funky math-like characters.
