Subject [jira] [Commented] (HCATALOG-107) Proper documentation for hive.metastore.warehouse.dir config

Thomas Weise commented on HCATALOG-107:
---------------------------------------

The server configuration parameters are duplicated between the 2 install pages. They need
to be the same for both. Server configuration could be broken out into a separate page and
referenced from both installation pages.

> "The directory you want to use for the default database in your installation"
> After having played with the setting a bit, here is how it seems to work (should be documented):
> The directory can be URI or absolute file path. If it is absolute file path, it will
be resolved to a URI by the metastore:
> If default hdfs was specified in core-site.xml, path resolves to HDFS location.
> Otherwise, path is resolved as local file: URI.
> This setting becomes effective when creating new tables (takes precedence over default
DBS.DB_LOCATION_URI at time of table creation).
