Subject Re: [VOTE] Apache Hama 0.2.0-incubating release
Date Mon, 07 Mar 2011 13:44:32 GMT
Hi,

I do have a few comments.

How were the .md5 and .sha files generated? They don't seem to be
recognized by the md5sum and shasum tools:

$ md5sum -c hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5
md5sum: hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5: no properly formatted MD5 checksum lines found

$ cat hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5
hama-0.2.0.tar.gz: 89 CA 5D 5D 4B 42 0A B8  33 7F 5B 68 0D 7A 92 23

This format for the hash file is not standard afaik. The common and
proper way to generate this file is:

$ md5sum hama-0.2.0.tar.gz > hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5
$ cat hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5
89ca5d5d4b420ab8337f5b680d7a9223  hama-0.2.0.tar.gz

Then verifying the hash is done like:

$ md5sum -c hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.md5
hama-0.2.0.tar.gz: OK

As for the SHA hash, same issue, the format is not standard:

$ cat hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.sha
hama-0.2.0.tar.gz: A0E1DACF D5DFE91B 4F9FCC93 0EC6E65D 00F9BE4B DC838E74
                   9EBAD2DA 917550E8 3D330424 F67B7BD0 DDB5B98E 209FB153
                   45F499FF 5C7D802A 8AF108AD 799AF132

Again, to generate it, it should be:

$ shasum hama-0.2.0.tar.gz > hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.sha
$ cat hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.sha
1868e7f4896b42575dc72f0deabba5fe71f1468d  hama-0.2.0.tar.gz
$ shasum -c hama-0.2.0.tar.gz.sha
hama-0.2.0.tar.gz: OK

As for the gpg file, what's the key to used to verify the signature?

regards
