Subject [jira] [Commented] (PODLINGNAMESEARCH-1) Establish whether "Apache Rat" is a suitable name
Date Wed, 23 Nov 2011 18:33:40 GMT

Shane Curcuru commented on PODLINGNAMESEARCH-1:

Note that trademarks are about ensuring relevant users are not confused as to the origin of
the trademarked goods (product, service, etc.). So it's critical to understand for any of
the pre-existing uses or registrations what kind of software product they are, to consider
if users of one organization's "Rat" software could be confused by seeing the other organization's
marketing materials, website, etc.

Thanks for getting this kicked off!

> The Rat podling brought together aRat and the Rat plugin tooling aRat for maven. It now
is a suite of small products including rat, whisker, tentacles and eye which perform various
functions to assist auditing, comprehending and verifying releases. This podling hopes to
graduate as a top level project once a suitable top level project name is found.
