there are a number of mechanical checks that i perform. they are slow
to perform manually. i can't scale. so i've made a start on automating
them. it's a work in progress.

those are code quality tools: this is a release quality tool.

sources are sources as far as releases are concerned. it doesn't
matter whether a source document is java, c, c++, python code or xml,
dtd, a javascript library or whatever.
