Subject Re: IRC Channel link on website?
Date Wed, 11 Jan 2012 04:40:44 GMT
If the "official" tag on the title is the problem, I don't have any issue
changing it. However, I personally despise mailing list. I can barely
stand this one for the sheer amount of emails, but I'll survive.

IRC is a place to go to either discuss the technology, ask
a consensus among several flex experts or ask questions pertinant to Flex
that isn't easily accessible through search. It's a place of discussion,
not only of Q&A. In no way should this be a replacement for this mailing
list, it is only for Flex users to get help on their implementation or ask
questions related to the tech.

The content is not searchable, but that's not really the point of it. If
you want something that's been asked a thousand times, you can always
google or look at stackoverflow which has a huge database of all questions
and their answers. However, it's very hard to ask more theoretical
questions or ask a possible solution for a unique situation. This is why I
like IRC.

So, with this said, if this isn't the "official" flex irc channel, what do
you want me to call it? Just "Apache Flex Help Channel"? I'm really hoping
to get it at the very least on the project page so that people can find it
easily.

Cheers,

M
