I may be wrong, but 150 mxml files is not that huge :) depending if the
size of each mxml you have, personnaly I make them as much minimal as
possible.
This is much about optimizing updateDisplayList, validation and all these
stuffs
But you are right about Flex performance. IMO, designing a more modular
component that allow to do less validation in a sense that it should be
more smart, is a good direction.

I propose to list all bad design we know about the Flex 3 and 4 frameworks
and propose technical/designs solutions ; should the JIRA do the stuff?
