Agreed.
I know it will just end up in a filter right to the bit bucket for me.
We are dealing with adults here right? And I'm going to go out on a limb and
say some fairly smart ones, so why couldn't all of this info be placed
somewhere accessible like the wiki and if/when someone posts without a tag
(if that’s the route we're going) then I'm sure someone on the list will
point them to the wiki that spells out the mailing list guidelines. Even if
that message were sent out everyday, people will still send messages without
the "proper" tags and need to be reminded. I've been on too many lists to
count so I know that it happens. Maybe I just have too much faith in people
having the ability to figure things out and follow the rules.

I understand that the list is trying to get some semblance of order but I
just don't see how sending out the same email daily will help. As I said
above, that daily message will just get sent directly to the bit bucket and
won't even be seen. Fairly certain that I won't be the only one doing that.

Just to be clear, I think having all of the information regarding tags and
such is a good thing, I just don’t agree that it needs to be sent out as a
daily reminder.

Just my 2 cents.

Neil

I don't think we can easily send such welcome messages with ASF lists, and
anyway I agree that such information belongs at
http://incubator.apache.org/flex/ anyway.

There's http://www.apache.org/dev/contrib-email-tips.html which is pretty
good IMO, and already linked from
http://incubator.apache.org/flex/mailing-lists.html
