Filipe, thanks for the answer. Actually I was trying to execute couchdb when it was already running. I was doing that because even if it's running, it's totally unresponsive: astroboy@mcnulty ~ $ curl -v http://localhost:5984 * About to connect() to localhost port 5984 (#0) * Trying 127.0.0.1... Connection refused * couldn't connect to host * Closing connection #0 If I run couchdb -i it says "cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". Under the suggestion of the irc people, I ran strace couchdb -i and that's the result: http://pastebin.com/jkWyWTzB .
