Hooray! :) — You should be able to pass in the env vars in the traditional way:

  ERL_MAX_PORTS=60000 couchdb

or if you are in a sh script:

  ERL_MAX_PORTS=60000
  export ERL_MAX_PORTS
  couchdb

I'd avoid modifying the `couchdb` script itself. But it's great to see that the
quick test works :)
