Subject Sequential id generation
Date Wed, 26 Dec 2012 22:43:25 GMT
Hi, i've search the web but have not found a good answer for this though
it is often discussed. so if i have several client dbs but a central
server how to generate sequential unique ids for say invoices. I want them
to start from 1 rather than a long guid. If i use say mysql sequences (is
there something better?) then theres no guarantee that after the sequence
is generated that it will be used on an invoice if there is a system
faliure between allocation and saving the invoice. this will be ok for
sales orders but for invoices i really would want to avoid skipped idsĀ· i
was thinking about about sending the invoices to be saved in the central
couch instance and using aggregate function count of invoices. will this
work? Is there a better way. i am new with couch any help very much
appreciated.
