AFAIK snapshots are taken for drop CF, drop KS and truncate CF also during compaction if enabled
via yaml. Cannot see anything in the code for 0.7 to snapshot during CF update. 

What was the name of the snapshot folder ?

btw it's a really good idea to upgrade to 0.7.4 if possible
