I've not been able to repro this either, though I did not get xcode through the app store, has anyone done that?

Few clarifications:
- When you say updated to the git version, do you mean you that you cloned the project instead of downloading a release?
- How are you building and running, with the command line tools or through xcode?
- Sometimes when I open xcode, even with the project open, the build target is wrong and I need to change it.  Can you confirm the build target is the sample app you created?
- Are you using xcode to build non-cordova apps?  Does that work?
