Subject [jira] [Commented] (CB-906) Hardware mute button doesn't effect Media API playback
Date Fri, 15 Jun 2012 22:17:42 GMT

Shazron Abdullah commented on CB-906:

Apple has reportedly commented: "They've said they don't and never have provided a method
for detecting hardware mute switch and don't intend to do so."

So doing that is a no go and/or not reliable with iOS > 4.

> When using the Media API, audio is played even if hardware mute button is switched on.
There is no way to override this setting.
> Expected behavior: Media API respects hardware mute button; optionally an "override"
argument could be passed to the play() method which ignores the mute button.
