Subject [jira] [Commented] (CB-635) Access application version information from JS.
Date Mon, 07 May 2012 19:30:47 GMT

Patrick Mueller commented on CB-635:

We're on a tack to using something like the config.xml file from
, aren't we? It appears to have a version attribute. How do you access that info?

It may be appropriate to have a platform-specific version as well as the "config.xml" version.
For instance, if you have to make some native fix to your app, you don't neccessarily want
to have to update the config.xml version, if updating the native version is more appropriate.

Making the "native version" available as a property in the same place as the config.xml version
might be appropriate.

> It seems that every platform offers the ability to define an application version. iOS
and Android offer string and numeric fields. They are versionName and versionCode on Android.

> My request is to add the ability to access this app version info using Javascript. Perhaps
adding an "app" namespace with app.versionName, app.versionCode and

of the core.
