Subject [jira] [Created] (BLUR-432) Explain tradeoffs in bulk mutate docs
Date Fri, 29 May 2015 02:17:17 GMT
Tim Williams created BLUR-432:
---------------------------------

Summary: Explain tradeoffs in bulk mutate docs
                 Key: BLUR-432
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BLUR-432
             Project: Apache Blur
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Blur
            Reporter: Tim Williams

We should explain the suggested usage in the [newish] bulk thrift apis[1]. Right now it's
ambiguous what performance tradeoffs there are to doing different things (e.g. buffering in
the app, then calling bulkAddMultiple vs multiple calls to bulkAdd.

Two side notes:

1) I'd love to take this opportunity to rename the methods to remove the awkward word "mutate".

2) We also need to fix the docs to "bulkMutateStart" which is declared as void but says it
returns a transactionId.
