Subject [jira] [Commented] (BLUR-275) Blur Hadoop 2.x build has hadoop 1.x dependancies still.
Date Mon, 14 Oct 2013 15:47:42 GMT

Garrett Barton commented on BLUR-275:

What I think want to happen is to bring in the blur dependency and specify which profile to
use within it. Yet I see no provisions inside of maven to do such a thing. I cant find a
profile tag anywhere inside a dependency tag. So the solution I have posted above seems to
be as good as it gets.

I would be fine with 2 notes added to the docs to call this fixed.

1/ On the getting started page in the compile section:
Have the mvn command for building against cdh4, I keep having to look through the mail archives
for it.

2/ On the Using Blur page as the first thing above Thrift Client, maybe Maven Setup or something??
Post the pom snippet about how to override the hadoop-core-1.2.1 dependency for CDH4 users
along with the minimum includes for hadoop 1.x.

> mvn install -Pcdh4-mr1 -Dhadoop.version=2.0.0-mr1-cdh4.3.0 -DskipTests=true
> I build against Hadoop 2.x in theory. Yet when I bring in blur-mapred from my local
maven repo, along with it comes blur-utils which brings hadoop-core-1.2.1. This conflicts
with my own include of hadoop-common 2.1.0 and things like Path.mergePaths are no longer available
to me.
> On a side note it would be awesome if the build would add which profile was built to
the jars. That way both versions could be resident in maven.
