Subject Re: Cache inserts in full offheap
Date Fri, 05 Feb 2016 12:00:06 GMT
Hi,

To my knowledge there is an issue with data eviction from off-heap when near
cache configuration is used.

However, make sure that EvictionPolicy is not supported for offheap tired
mode and you have to define the limits this way

        cacheCfg.setMemoryMode(CacheMemoryMode.OFFHEAP_TIERED);
        cacheCfg.setOffHeapMaxMemory(2 * 1024 * 1024);

If you don't use NearCacheConfiguration and properly set the limits the
please share the full configuration you use in your test. You can use Gist
[1] for that or other service.

Basically, when you use off-heap mode and swap is disabled and once the
off-heap limit is reached the data gets evicted completely (removed).

Cache data never goes back from offheap to Java heap. Java heap usage you're
observing should be related to the specificity of your test.

Regards,
Denis
