Subject [jira] [Commented] (IGNITE-4269) Implement batch statements in JDBC driver
Date Mon, 19 Dec 2016 15:47:58 GMT

Alexander Paschenko commented on IGNITE-4269:

Implemented batching. It took no changes in the API. Essentially, batched query differs from
non batched only by number of arguments - say, if statement has 3 arguments, then batch of
size 3 will have 3 x 3 = 9 arguments.

Processing of such statements does not differ much from that of non batched statements - they
are also carried out via {{putAll}} and {{invokeAll}} operations, or as fast UPDATEs and DELETEs
(ones without complex SELECT, bounded only by key and, probably, value).

INSERT and MERGE from subquery are not supported in batched mode, as well as non fast UPDATE
and DELETE - this is so as long as batching ideologically is primarily destined for loading
large data volumes into cache.

> In the course of review of initial DML implementation, it has been agreed that the first
attempt to implement batching (via series of individual queries) is rather incorrect (effectively
series of individual queries instead of one larger query). So it's been decided not to include
batching into initial release and rather implement it the right way shortly in nearest releases.
