Chris,
I think you are missing the factory attribute in your Resource tag in 
your context.xml

 	<Resource name="jdbc/MyDb"
		factory"org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory"
  		auth="Container"
  		type="javax.sql.DataSource"
               	maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000"
               	username="xx" password="yy"
               	driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
               	url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/MyDb?autoReconnect=true"/>

Do you have your mysql-connector and dbcp jar files in your tomcat's 
common/lib directory?
