All oracle types can be called upon using primitive java types, it isn't
a question of telling your client "no, can do..", everything can be done
usign the basic java types... 
i wouldn't do the above casting because it grows dependency on the DB
driver and adds the serialization and cast burden.

Is there a page explaining how to do? 

We have been working with a third party company and sadly we have no
chance to say "please dont use those types".
