Argh! Ignore the last message.  The right syntax is this:

<transactionManager type="JDBC">
  <property name="DataSource" value="JNDI"/>
  <property name="context.java.naming.factory.initial" value="
weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory"/>
  <property name="context.java.naming.provider.url"
value="t3://localhost:7004"/>
  <property name="*DBJndiContext*" value="mydatasource"/>
</transactionManager>
