Use the CDATA construct, e.g.:

        <![CDATA[
            SELECT * FROM Deployment
            WHERE environmentId = #environmentId#
            AND deploymentTime <= #end#
            AND deploymentTime >= #start#
            ORDER BY deploymentTime DESC
        ]]>
