Also use the firewall to disable all outgoing traffic that you don't need.

I only use mod_proxy for one virtualhost, this is my config:

<VirtualHost *:80>
        CustomLog logs/home-access.log combined
        ProxyRequests Off

        <Proxy *>
        Order deny,allow
        Deny from all

        ProxyPass /
        ProxyPassReverse /

        <Location />
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
