A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.

It's not forbidden, and there are no rules. Generally, if you want to
avoid people telling you off for things, send emails to mailing lists
in plain text (no HTML), using UTF-8, and reply either
inline/interleaved or bottom posting.
