Sorry, but I do not yet understand _default_ vhost. 

Is _default_ a value assigned by Apache service, and if so then what would
be its value?

If my service's IP 10.20.30.40 and it was to Listen 8085, then how would
these VirtualHost declarations act differently?
Using wild-card *:
<VirtualHost *:8085>

Using _default_:
<VirtualHost _default_:8085>
