Subject RE: [users@httpd] Using a proxy manually from a webbrowser?
Date Mon, 12 Nov 2007 07:55:10 GMT
The more I think about it, the less likely I find it that you will succeed.

1. The ProxyPass'ing is a nobrainer.

2. You will not be able to rewrite Location headers (ProxyPassReverse)

3. AFAICS you will not be able to proxy_html relative URLs correctly

The directives below are totally untested. If you ever manage to get this up and running,
don't hesitate to post to the list...

LoadModule proxy_html_module /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_proxy_html.so

ProxyVia Off
ProxyRequests Off
ProxyPreserveHost On
RewriteEngine On
RewriteLogLevel 9

ProxyHTMLLogVerbose On
ProxyHTMLExtended On
SetOutputFilter proxy-html

RewriteRule ^/([^\/]+)(.*) http://$1$2 [P,L]

ProxyHTMLURLMap http://([^\/]+)/(.*) http://myapache.com/$1/$2 [R]
ProxyHTMLURLMap /(.*) /whatserver??.com/$1 [R]

Good luck

Sorry, I jumped too quickly. I knew that the moment I hit the send button. :(

I would still like a proposed solution, most of what you mentioned seemed like all the normal
problems associated with ProxyPass (rewriting html urls...). Ignoring those for now, I am
still asking for how the forwarding could be done? What directives and what format? I understand
that this may not be perfect.
