Hi.

I'm using libapache2-mod-auth-mysql ( debian "etch" package ) and the
configuration is very different from yours. This is my'n:

        <Directory /home/www/>
                AuthName "Tiltott konyvtar !!"
                AuthType Basic
                AuthUserFile /dev/null
                AuthBasicAuthoritative Off
                Auth_MYSQL on
                Auth_MySQL_Authoritative off

                Auth_MySQL_Host localhost
                Auth_MySQL_DB apache
                Auth_MySQL_Username apache
                Auth_MySQL_Password mylongpassword

                Auth_MySQL_Password_Table auth
                Auth_MySQL_Username_Field username
                Auth_MySQL_Password_Field passwd

                Auth_MySQL_Encrypted_Passwords Off
                Auth_MySQL_Non_Persistent On
                Auth_MySQL_Empty_Passwords Off

                require valid-user

                Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
                AllowOverride None
        </Directory>
