I have a number of Alias directives in place to allow access to files in a part of the filesystem outside the DocumentRoot. However one of these has mysteriously stopped working and it is produceing 404 errors on the alias under the webroot ... I have a setup like this in the VirtualHost DocumentRoot /path/to/codebase/public_html Alias /news/ /path/to/codebase/newsletters/ When a request is made to http://mysite.com/news/filename.html the error log is repoting: File does not exist: /path/to/codebase/public_html/news The odd thing is that the Alias was working one morning then after some changes to configuration (adding some mod_rewrite rules) this one Alias out of and existing four ceased to function as designed. I have checked permissions are still fine on the directory being pointed to, and it is covered by a Directory directing in the upper level apache.conf file. There are no conflicting rewrite rules or redirects that could be in conflict with the Alias directive .... Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this issue?
