This is complex enough that it is best dealt with in mod_rewrite:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule /somedir(.*) http://www.somedomain.com/somedir$1 [P,L]
RewriteRule /somedir(.*) http://%{SERVER_NAME}/somedir$1 [NC,R,L]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.somedomain.com$1 [P,L]
ProxyPassReverse ...
