Actually, I just fixed the problem yesterday

There was a

<File *>
ForceType........
</File>

or something in the .htaccess (syntax is probably wrong, but you get the
idea) which was forcing all files to be sent out as text/html

Removed this, and now everything works like it's supposed to. 

I must have looked at that 30 times.....>:(
