I would make one recomendation here, put in a ServerAlias dirrective 
containing the value *  That will allow you to 
access it as both as well as  There may be reasons you don't want to do that, 
but it's generally recomended practice.

As for why it doesn't work, I would say it's because you probably want 
to set your NameVirtualHost to *:80.  Though there may be reasons that 
you don't want it as that.  I hope that this works.
