I have sooooo much more to learn! Thank you. I made the changes and it does work. However, that now leaves the directories wide open. (I had to change world to get it to work. Just changing group would not work.) Is that where .htaccess comes in to protect them from the outside? Again, thanks ever so much for the ad distance. If you have a "permission denied" error it is because the directory you are trying to write to has not write permission for the user that the PHP script is running as (most likely that of the apache server). You may find that a "sweeper" script running independently of the apache server (and consequently as a different user), would suit better.
