That's what I did and it says that httpd is not running when I try to
stop it.

Hello Spencer:
                            You should read apache documentation first.

Its located at http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/   With that said, you 
can start apache by executing ./apachectl start.  And to stop apache 
execute ./apachectl stop.  Also, you might want to look at the file 
apachectl and look at the options avaiable to you.
