If you place the directives in the root of the conf file it will aply to all
vhosts, if you place it in a the vhost container ir will only work for that
vhost...

The question is probably silly.

We are starting to use mod rewrite here at our company. Can you believe we
did not understand where to put the rewrite directives? Should we put them
in the .conf file (we have separate conf files for the virtual hosts)?
