Subject [users@httpd] file extension handling
Date Thu, 20 Jan 2005 20:04:30 GMT
On my old Mandrake system (apache 1.3.22) and knoppix (apache 1.3.31)
when I send a request to apache I do not have to specify the file
extension. eg:
   http://myserver/fred

On Suse 9.2 (apache 2.0.50) I have to give the extension eg:
   http://myserver/fred.html

Without the extension I get the message "Object not found! Error 404".
This is true of html, php etc.

Is this a "feature" of apache2 or a configuration option?

I have searched through various documents about mime-types, filters etc.
but cannot find the answer.

Graham
