Good point. I forgot to look there. The system event logs show-

<Directory "O:/Workspace/Work/My_App/myapp/www/testapp"> path is invalid.

I can open the path from explorer, and Apache will run from the remote
path when started interactively.

This only happens when apache runs as a service. It's my guess this is
because the service runs as whatever the XP equivalent of "nobody" is,
and therefore doesn't have access to files belonging to me on the server.

Unfortunately I have yet to work out how Unix permissions on the Samba
server map to ACLs on XP, and XP home has damn-all tools to deal with
ACLs anyway. I tried making the relevant directory path "o+rx" all the
way down on the Samba server, but that wasn't enough.

What are the Windows OS
event logs?
