Subject [users@httpd] RE : Apche 2.0.52 on Solaris 8
Date Wed, 10 Nov 2004 08:02:09 GMT
That bug existed in 2.0.49. It is possible that it has been fixed since. If Joshua says so
it probably has.

To make your Apache work you need to configure your system so it uses DNS. From memory, the
only thing you need to do is to make sure that the line in /etc/nsswitch.conf that starts
with "hosts:" contains "dns", and that your /etc/hosts contains an entry for "127.0.0.1 localhost".
I do not think that you even need a /etc/resolv.conf.

Objet : [users@httpd] Apche 2.0.52 on Solaris 8

Hi Gurus,

This is an extension to my previous SUMMARY for Apache Web Server on INTEL box.

I have Solaris 8 installed on INTEL Box. I downloaded Apache 2.0.52 source from apache.org
and compiled and installed the same with openssl 0.9.7e with the following args:

./configure --prefix=/opt/apache --enable-rewrite=shared -enable-proxy=shared --enable-ssl=shared
--enable-ssl --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl --enable-mods-shared=all

When I start Apche it works fine but if I start with ssl option ./apachectl startssl it gives
me following error:

[Tue Nov 09 11:40:40 2004] [crit] [Tue Nov 09 11:40:40 2004] file vhost.c, line 189, assertion
"rv == APR_SUCCESS" failed

Abort - core dumped

I also downloaded Apache Portable Runtime releases 1.0.0 and installed the same on Solaris
8 Intel and recompied the apache with the above options but no luck.

Any help/pointer will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

B
