Try just adding the ServerName entry to each VirtualHost then. Thats all I see that your missing.

Well I should have also given this information also. I am using a
dynamic IP address. I have one external ip address and several
hostname.FQDN. The ip address may change but the Name stays the same.
Then that information is forwarded to my webserver via my firewall.

Make sure you have a NameVirtualHost IP.ADDRESS.GOES.HERE entry...also
you shouldn't use VirtualHost HOSTNAME for name based hosting...give
this a try

NameVirtualHost x.x.x.x
<VirtualHost x.x.x.x>
ServerName sharkattack.homelinux.com
ServerAdmin webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com
DocumentRoot /var/www/gwshark
ServerName   shark
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost x.x.x.x>
ServerName gwshark.homelinux.com
ServerAdmin webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com
DocumentRoot /var/www/html
ServerName   default
</VirtualHost>

Good Luck!

Apache problem. I have the following virtual servers setup on my box.
Each of the virtual servers document roots point to different
directories with different index.html files in them. When I go to
either address I get the page that is defined in the
gwshark.homelinux.com documentroot directory. That is not the way it is
supposed to work from what I have read. Is there any way to correct it
to pull the appropriate index file for each? If so how? =====
<VirtualHost sharkattack.homelinux.com> ServerAdmin
webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com
<mailto:webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com>
DocumentRoot /var/www/gwshark
ServerName   shark
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost gwshark.homelinux.com>
ServerAdmin webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com
<mailto:webmaster@gwshark.homelinux.com>
DocumentRoot /var/www/html
ServerName   default
</VirtualHost>
