Subject [users@httpd] IPv6 address in DNScache
Date Thu, 26 Aug 2004 06:59:54 GMT
I downloaded the djbdns tar file and applied the patch for a IPv6
support.I started dnscache service and tinydns service on different IPs on
the same machine. My tinydns is running perfectly on ipv6. I want my
dnscache having an IPv6 address to handle requests from another IPv6
address( dig @2001:e48:1::3 yahoo.com)

But my dnscache does not work on IPv6( that is my cache is on Ipv6 and the
machine making the query(dig) is also on ipv6). I am unable to dig
yahoo.com it says no servers could be reached. whereas if i change the
address in IP file to an IPv4 address and i try from the same machine
yahoo.com can be resolved.

Can anyone send me the syntax of how to specify the IPv6 address in IP
file(/var/dnscache/dnscache/env/IP -currently it says 2001:e48:1::3). wat
should IPROOT(now it has 0.0.0.0) contain?? Nothing is found in the log

the following where found in the netstat
   netstat -na |grep :53
tcp        0      0 2001:e48:1::3:53        :::*                    LISTEN
udp      432      0 210.18.5.72:1036        210.18.5.72:53
ESTABLISHED
udp        0      0 2001:e48:1::3:53        :::*
udp        0      0 2001:e48:1::4:53        :::*

Making an error unknowingly is not a big mistake. But failing to correct
it is one
