To have the browser connect to :82, use a redirect in your :80 vhost:

Redirect / http://server.domain.com:82/

Subject: [users@httpd] Change server port via modrewrite

Hello everyone,

I have a virtual host that is running on port 80, but would like to
have all requests sent to anything on that virtual host via port 80
sent to port 82.

I've looked at all the mod_rewrite documentation I can find and can't
figure it out.

Any ideas?
